Speech and Language Therapist

A speech and language therapist is a member of an independent professional group that deals with the diagnosis, evaluation and therapy of human communication, development and disorders, and engages in scientific research activities in this field. Speech and language disorders specialists are responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of communication, language and speech disorders. The disease groups that speech and language disorders specialists work on cover a wide range from verbal and non-verbal communication problems to the treatment of individuals with swallowing and eating disorders.  Developmental language disorders , voice disorders, articulation/phonological disorders, stuttering, speech disorders due to cleft lip and palate, and distortion or loss of speech (aphasia) that develop after an accident or brain hemorrhage after language acquisition   are the areas of work of speech and language therapists.
